RESEARCH - Review of previous student's film

Mustafa, Nick, Poppy, Charon

I particularely like this groups video for its great use of mise en scene. The props, costumes and settings all look like they have had time spent on them and you can tell that a great amount of thought and preperation has gone into it. Elements such as lighting and makeup(glitter) are visualy attractive and keep me interested and wanting to watch more. Also they used a wide variety of shot types including wide shots, mid shots, extreme close ups and a high angle shot. This in addition with the variety of locations matches the fast pace of the song and the editing as it is continously changing and upbeat. In each location there is a change of costume to keep the video fresh and new from start to finish. This video supports Andrew Goodwin's theory as the main artist addresses the viewer by looking directly into the camera. Also, she is the main character in the music video as well as the narrator/singer. Lastly, the structure isn't similar traditional narrative structures as theres no normality-problem-solution.
