Laura Mulvey’s Theory

Laura Mulvey’s theory is also called the “Male Gaze”. She believes when we watch a music video we are viewing the characters as a heterosexual male as in that we gaze at the female as if she is a sex object. This is done throughout the use of camera as different angles and shots are captured to make the female look more appealing to the audience (heterosexual man) and it is also done throughout the use of mise en scene such as the costumes females would use and also the props they may use may will be appealing to the heterosexual man.
