Feed back on draft

Feed back on draft

Front cover: My media teacher had told me that my draft was okay he said it had a good structure and it also had the right information he also said the fonts suited the theme however he said in order to improve was to change my back cover photo around with my front cover so that the front cover has a clear picture of the artist

Inside: my teacher said it was generally okay but it would be better if i had a picture behind the cd

Magazine add: my teacher said it was consistent in comparison to my CD cover but he said i should play around with the payout till it looks the best

PRODUCTION - Target audience feedback

I thought it would be a good idea to get some audience feedback on my ancillary products. I will make improvements following this feedback is there is any constructive criticism

PRODUCTION - Magazine advert draft

PRODUCTION - Digipak draft

making progress on the magazine ad

I quickly discovered what image i wanted to use on my magazine ad and that is the same image i used on the front cover of my digipak. I decided to use it again because it's a clear image of the artist so helps promote the artist and also it will help people realise the music video if they see the same image on the magazine as well as the front cover of the digipak. I then chose what i wanted too say therefore i inserted the text onto the magazine ad and the size i wanted the text to be. The whole idea of the digipak is to promote the artist therefore the artist's name is the largest followed by the album now.

Mock up of inside cover

Instead of designing my mock up initially on paper and printing an image out which i did on the front cover i decided to go straight into photoshop to create the mock up of my inside because i believe its much more simplistic than the cover of the digipak. Also it gave me the chance to develop on it rather than starting again.  I couldn't think of what images to use therefore i decided just to add the same one. I think i am going to keep this image on one of them however not both. Also by creating this mock up it required me with the skill to use the ellipse marquee tool which i needed. I am not quite sure what to add now as i don't want to overdo it but i will definitely be adding something as it is far too plain at the moment.

EVALUATION PLANNING - Q3+4

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

  • State of the art video cameras - used to film all of our footage and memory cards used as storage for our filming. Learnt how to alter settings for better filming quality e.g: AF/MF, zoom, light/dark toggle etc.
  • Still cameras - used to capture images during filming etc
  • Blogger - used to record process of research, planning, production, evaluation. New blog - post - update and so on - adding labels, adding pictures/videos/html's
  • Apps & websites used in conjunction - powerpoint presentation, prezi, slideshare, gif creator - used to create slideshows/presentations/moving images. Prezi very helpful for creating pitch. Slideshows useful when displaying images from filming etc.
  • Social networking - Twitter/instagram used to keep teachers updated on filming progress
  • Internet - Youtube in particular used a lot during research period
  • Photoshop - used for production of ancillary products - digipak and magazine advert. Used to put together products from scratch, became familiar with how to insert images, text and edit these components to create structure
  •  Final cut pro - used for editing of footage and creation of music video - special effects such as slow and fast motion, colour altering, cutting and shortening of clips, reversing footage
  • Created an animatic using Photoshop

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

  • Overall reaction to video in cinema was positive - not much excitement until the end due to slow pace
  • Learnt that editing and performance have the most impact on audience opinion
